THE NETWORK FOR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AND ADVOCACY-GHANA (NETCODA-GH)
As part of I AM AWARE Project in Kwaebibirem Municipality. There was a joint NETCODA-GH and Kwaebibirem Municipal Assembly (KbMA) activities of inauguration and training of Zonal Council Members in all five Zonal Councils in Kwaebibirem Municipality.
The program started from Tuesday, 24th of September to Monday 30th, 2024.
In attendance at every Zonal Council were the Municipal Chief Executive of Kwaebibirem Hon. Seth Antwi Boasiako, the Municipal Coordinating Director of Kwaebibirem Mr. Fred. Owusu-Akowuah, all heads of Departments, The Assembly Members and the Unit Committee Members of each Zone attended the inauguration and training, the traditional Authorities in various Zones were present as well as the Zonal Social Action Group (SAG) Members turned up their respective zones.
The inauguration and training were organised in this order, kade Zone, Kwae Zone, Nkwantaneng Zone, Abaam Zone and Asoum Zone.
The Municipal Coordinating Director, welcome all to the meetings and told them that we have met to inaugurate and trained the Zonal Councils members, He continued by saying that if the Zonal Councils are able to function as well it will ease the work of the Municipal Assembly. He urged the Assembly Members and Unit Committee Members that they must help so that the running of the Assembly will be effective.
The MCE stated by thanking all for attending such important meeting. The told the house that the inauguration and training of Zonal Council Members are very important, such training is very important because when such training is done, it helps the Assembly to properly decentralised it works to it citizens for local level development. He continued by telling the Hon. Members that as they have been inaugurated today, they are to keep records of property and collect rates due the Assembly within their zone. He further told the Zonal council Members to aside any differences and wok together as a team and cooperate with technocrat and Chiefs and Elders for effective performance in their respective Communities within Kwaebibirem Municipality. The Municipal Information Officer invited the departmental heads for briefing the Zonal Council Members about what pertains in their respective departments.
The Municipal Information Officer handed over to Nana Appiah, the Chief Director of NETCODA-GH to take the Zonal Members through training and he opened the floor for questions and answers after the training.
The Municipal Coordinating Director took charge and inaugurated and sworn in Zonal Councils Members as well as their leadership. At kade Zone, Hon Adams Kabore Abubakar of Kade Zongo West was elected as Zonal Chairman, at Nkwantaneng Zone, Hon Ophelia Kyewa Apaw of Abaam was elected as Chairperson and finally at Asuom Zone, Hon Sarpong Jones was elected as Zonal Chairman pledge theirs support and willingness to see the progress of the Zones. All Zonal Councils were assigned a Technocrat from the Municipal Assembly as their Secretary and some supporting staff for each Zone.
The traditional Authorities as well as some experienced Members of the Assembly who are SAG Members gave advises to the newly inaugurated Zonal Councils Member.
In the closing remarks both the MCE and MCD express their appreciation to CDD_GH and their sponsor William and Flora Foundation. NETCODA-GH team also express our gratitude to all who made the program a success.
