KWAEBIBIREM ASSEMBLY HOLDS JUSTICE & SECURITY SUB-COMMITTEE MEETING ON 16/7/2025

REPORT OF THE JUSTICE AND SECURITY SUB-COMMITTEE HELD ON WEDNESDAY, 16TH JULY, 2025 AT THE MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY HALL, KADE

Members of the Justice and Security sub-committee met on Wednesday, 16th July, 2025 in accordance with subsection (1) of section 19 of the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936).

The underlisted recommendations were made:

PROSTITUTION RIFE WITHIN THE MUNICIPALITY

The sub-committee noted with concern the growing rate of prostitution in illegal mining communities. “Noted among these communities were Nsuase (Kade), Ryce Under Pub (Kade), Teacher Nti Saw Mill- Kade Lodge, Middle-East Pub (Subi), Asuom,” members disclosed.

They admitted that the situation if not curtailed would lead many youths astray.

In view of the above, the following recommendations were made:

  • Immediate conduct of swoop by the police
  • Education and sensitization of the youth on the consequences of this deviant behavior.
  • Invitation of notable institutions such as Youth Employment Agency (YEA), Business Advisory Centre (BAC), among others to make a presentation on the opportunities available to the youth.

ILLEGAL MINING

Again, members expressed worry on the unabated illegal mining activities within the municipality. They attributed the pollution of water bodies as well as non-reclamation of lands to the menace.

Members recommended that a taskforce be constituted to ensure proper consistent monitoring of the reclamation of lands.

THEFT CASES

Lastly, members brought to the attention of the house the increase in theft cases within the municipality. After lengthy deliberations, members recommended that there should be public sensitization and the supply of street bulbs.

In conclusion, the Sub-Committee outlined the above to be forwarded to the Executive Committee for consideration.
