The Kwaebibirem Municipal Assembly held a Management Meeting on 21st April 2026 at the Municipal Assembly Hall to deliberate on key development, administrative and service-delivery issues within the Municipality.
The meeting, chaired by the Municipal Coordinating Director (MCD), Mr. Asamoah Damoah, brought together Heads of Departments and representatives from various government agencies. Discussions focused on the implementation of previous Assembly decisions, departmental activities, ongoing development projects, revenue mobilisation, public education and measures to improve service delivery.
A major part of the meeting was dedicated to reviewing decisions from previous General Assembly meetings. Management provided updates on a number of initiatives, including support for Community-Initiated Projects, the provision of facilities at the newly constructed Abaam Market, the completion of stalled development projects, improved logistics for the Works Department, and efforts to strengthen security and emergency response services. The Assembly also discussed measures to regulate commercial motorcycle and tricycle operations in the Municipality to improve road safety and public order.
The meeting further considered efforts to develop the Municipality’s tourism potential through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement for the redevelopment of the Rest House into a Guest House. The Assembly is also pursuing measures to streamline development permit processes and improve financial accountability by ensuring that relevant payments are made directly into the Assembly’s bank accounts.
During the departmental briefings, the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) reported progress in clearing its backlog of meter applications, while the Ghana Education Service (GES) announced plans to commence a reading competition for Basic 4 pupils. The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) also reported that free insurance registration was ongoing from 15th April to 31st May 2026, alongside plans to establish Health Kiosks to address clients’ insurance-related challenges.
The Assembly also received updates on revenue mobilisation, ongoing infrastructure projects, physical planning, staff capacity building, procurement, environmental health and agricultural activities. The Works Department reported that it was supervising projects including a police station, an educational block and the Stadium Park. The Environmental Health Department highlighted ongoing clean-up exercises and efforts to improve sanitation, while the Agriculture Department reported on farmer training, distribution of agricultural chemicals and plans to distribute palm seedlings on a community basis.
The Head of the Management Information Systems (MIS) Department also informed Management that the Assembly now has an official government website, www.kbma.gov.gh, and appealed to all departments and agencies to submit information on their activities for publication and regular updating of the website.
Other important decisions included efforts to establish a Development Control Team, improve motorcycle regulation and road safety, update the database of cocoa farmers, renovate selected school and security facilities, and strengthen monthly revenue mobilisation. The Assembly has designated the last Tuesday of every month as a revenue mobilisation day, with the exercise already successfully undertaken.
The meeting ended at 3:35 p.m. after fruitful deliberations. The Municipal Coordinating Director thanked members for their active participation and encouraged all departments and agencies to continue working collaboratively towards the development and improved service delivery of the Kwaebibirem Municipality.
