KWAEBIBIREM MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY ON UNWHOLESOME FOOD RADIO SENSITIZATION ON 02/07/2026.

Radio Station: Abibirem FM-Kade

Facilitators: Environmental Health Officers

A radio sensitisation programme was conducted to educate the public on the dangers of consuming and selling unwholesome food. The discussion highlighted the importance of food safety, proper hygiene practices, and compliance with public health regulations.

Key topics covered included the identification of unwholesome food, common causes of food contamination, safe food handling and storage practices, the importance of purchasing food from approved sources, and the health risks associated with consuming contaminated food. Listeners were also encouraged to report suspected cases of unwholesome food to the Environmental Health Unit.

The programme featured an interactive session during which listeners called in to ask questions about food safety and received practical advice on preventing foodborne diseases.

The sensitisation successfully increased public awareness of food safety and encouraged both food vendors and consumers to adopt good hygiene practices to protect public health.
