Mr. Yaw Adu Asamoah, the Chief Director of the Eastern Regional Coordinating Council (ERCC), paid a working visit to the Kwaebibirem Municipal Assembly on Tuesday, November 12, 2024. During this visit, the recently appointed Chief Director had the opportunity to familiarize himself with the Assembly’s staff and activities. The visit focused on addressing significant administrative and operational issues in order to increase output and worker satisfaction. Mr. Adu Asamoah was accompanied by Mr. Cyril Xatse, the Regional HR Officer.
The primary objectives of the tour were to familiarize oneself with the management and staff of the Kwaebibirem Municipal Assembly and to initiate discussions regarding local staffing, posting, and attendance. In addition, his visit was meant to discuss matters concerning employee welfare, pensions, and career advancement; lastly, it was meant to promote good working relationships and improve communication within the Assembly.
During the tour’s introduction session, Mr. Yaw Adu Asamoah gave a brief explanation of why he was there and thanked everyone for their kind welcome. Mr. Adu Asamoah emphasized how important it is for employees to arrive on time and attend every day in order to ensure efficiency and production. He met with department heads to propose rationalization strategies and existing personnel postings to ensure equitable distribution of human resources across the region.
Enhancing pensions, benefits, and overall job satisfaction were the main topics of discussion when it came to employee welfare measures. The Chief Director promised the staff that he would collaborate with the Regional Human Resources Department to address their concerns. It was stressed how important it is to foster a positive work environment and promote open communication. Mr. Adu Asamoah counselled staff members to uphold professionalism and mutual respect in their contacts with co-workers and the public.
During an interactive session, staff members raised a variety of concerns, including logistical support challenges.
Despite demonstrating a great commitment to their work, the staff recognized the need for more logistical support. Despite the well-organized administrative structure of the Assembly, many departments need additional workers to function effectively. It became evident from the interactive conversation that regular engagement between the Regional Coordinating Council and Municipal Assemblies is necessary to promptly address operational challenges.
