The Kwaebibirem Municipal Assembly has distributed free bags of fertilizer to selected farmers across the Municipality as part of the Government’s ongoing efforts to boost agricultural production and strengthen food security. The exercise, led by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Hon. Emmanuel kofi Nti, took place on Friday, 5th June, 2026, at the forecourt of the Municipal Assembly.

The initiative forms part of the Government’s commitment to easing the financial burden on farmers while improving crop productivity during the 2026 farming season. The distribution brought together beneficiary farmers, officials of the Municipal Assembly, staff of the Department of Agriculture, members of the media, and other stakeholders.

Addressing the media after the exercise, the Municipal Chief Executive reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to supporting the agricultural sector, describing agriculture as the backbone of the Municipality’s economy.

“The Government remains committed to empowering our farmers with the resources they need to increase productivity, improve their livelihoods, and contribute to national food security. We encourage all beneficiaries to use the fertilizer responsibly to achieve the intended impact,” the MCE stated.

The distribution was conducted in a transparent and orderly manner, with beneficiaries undergoing verification before receiving their allocations to ensure that the support reached the intended farmers.

Speaking after receiving their fertilizer, several beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the Government and the Municipal Assembly for the timely intervention, noting that the support would reduce production costs and enable them to cultivate larger acreages during the current farming season.

The successful exercise underscores the Assembly’s commitment to partnering with the Government and relevant stakeholders to promote sustainable agricultural development, improve rural livelihoods, and enhance food production across the Kwaebibirem Municipality.
