FORMATION OF REVENUE MOBILIZATION AND IMPROVEMENT COMMITTEE
Article 240(2) © of the 1992 Constitution indicates that “there shall be established for each local government unit a sound financial base with adequate and reliable sources of revenue”.
In line with the above and also to ensure that sufficient and adequate revenue is mobilize in a more coordinated manner so as to carry out its day-to-day operations and developmental projects.
A meeting was organized by various departmental heads and was chaired by the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mss Sally Salla Mahamah. It was convened to set the tone for the year by discussing strategies to ensure effective revenue mobilization, and other key areas of administration.
In her opening remarks, Mss Sally Salla Mahamah emphasized the importance of starting the year on a strong and positive note. She encouraged all to work collaboratively towards achieving the Assembly’s developmental goals. The meeting explored innovative approaches to enhance revenue collection, including improved property rate collection and collaborations and issuing of bills.
Revenue mobilization groups were constituted and was headed by various heads of departments to distribute Business Operating Permit (BOP) and property rate. In light of this, the exercise commenced on 15th January 2025 to boost revenue mobilization within the municipality.
