SANITATION ON GHANA’S SANITATION POLICY & LAWS AT METHODIST CHURCH, KADE

A public sensitization programme on Ghana’s Sanitation Policy and sanitation-related laws was conducted at the church to educate members on their responsibilities in maintaining a clean and healthy environment. The session highlighted the objectives of Ghana’s Environmental Sanitation Policy, emphasizing proper waste management, environmental cleanliness, food hygiene, prevention of open defecation, and the importance of complying with sanitation bye-laws. Ghana’s sanitation policy promotes shared responsibility between individuals, communities, and local authorities in maintaining a healthy environment.

The congregation was encouraged to practise proper waste disposal, keep their homes and surroundings clean, use approved sanitary facilities, and support community clean-up exercises. Members were also informed that Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies have the mandate to enforce sanitation bye-laws and that violations may attract sanctions.

The programme was interactive, with participants asking questions on sanitation practices and law enforcement. The sensitization ended with a call for all church members to serve as ambassadors of environmental cleanliness and promote good sanitation practices within their homes and communities.
