  • Sensitisation on Latrine Construction at the Radio Station

A sensitisation programme on latrine construction was conducted at Abibirem FM station in Kade on March 5, 2026, to educate the public on the importance of proper sanitation facilities.
The session highlighted the health risks associated with open defecation and poor waste disposal, including the spread of diseases such as cholera and typhoid.
Participants were taken through the different types of latrines suitable for households and communities, key construction requirements, proper siting, and maintenance practices to ensure hygiene and longevity. Emphasis was placed on affordability, the use of locally available materials, and adherence to environmental health standards.

The programme also encouraged community members to take responsibility for improving sanitation in their homes and surroundings.
Listeners were urged to adopt safe latrine practices and seek guidance from Environmental Health Officers when constructing facilities.

Overall, the sensitisation was successful in raising awareness and promoting behavioural change towards improved sanitation and public health.
