SOD-CUTTING AND HANDING OVER OF PROJECTS IN KWAEBIBIREM MUNICIPALITY ON 26/11/2025.

VENUE: Forecourt of Kwaebibirem Municipal Assembly & Selected Communities.

The Kwaebibirem Municipal Assembly, under the leadership of the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Emmanuel Kofi Nti, on Tuesday, 25th November 2025, held an official gathering at the forecourt of the Municipal Assembly to cut sod and hand over ten development projects earmarked for various communities within the Municipality.

The event formed part of the Assembly’s commitment to improving social infrastructure, enhancing access to essential services, and promoting balanced development across the municipality.

The programme was attended by officials of the Assembly, traditional leaders, community members, Assembly Members, and representatives from the Eastern Regional Coordinating Council. The Eastern Regional Minister, Hon. Rita A. Awatey, was also present to support the initiative.

PURPOSE OF THE EVENT

The sod-cutting ceremony was organized to officially commence construction works and hand over sites to contractors for ten priority projects. These projects cover education, health, security, water, and sports infrastructure targeted at improving the quality of life in beneficiary communities.

LIST OF PROJECTS

The following ten (10) projects were handed over or commenced:

1. Construction and furnishing of 1No. 2–unit KG classroom block with office and store at Kade LA.

2. Construction and furnishing of 1No. 6–unit classroom block with offices and stores at Akinkase.

3. Construction and furnishing of 1No. CHPS compound at Abaase, Kade.

4. Construction and furnishing of 1No. CHPS compound at James Town.

5. Completion of Police Station at Kade.

6. Completion of Education Office Complex at Kade.

7. Construction and furnishing of 1No. 3–unit classroom block at Mempeasem.

8. Completion of 1No. W/C Toilet facility at Okyinso.

9. Construction of Kade Football Park.

10. Construction of 9No. Mechanized Boreholes with concrete stands and poly tanks in nine (9) communities.

These projects were selected based on pressing community needs and are expected to address gaps in educational infrastructure, healthcare access, water supply, sanitation, and sports development.

SCHEDULE & COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

Activities included the main sod-cutting gathering at the forecourt of the Assembly, where the MCE officially announced all ten projects. Stakeholders were briefed on project timelines and expected benefits.

Wednesday, 26th November 2025

Venues Visited: Jamestown, Akenkaase, Mempeasem, Okyinso, Akawani, Mereponso Asuogya, Mereponso Ati, Subriso, Anweam, and Anweam Nkwanta

The MCE and a technical team embarked on a community tour to hand over specific project sites and interact with residents. The communities expressed appreciation and pledged their support for the smooth execution of the projects.

REMARKS FROM THE MCE

Hon. Emmanuel Kofi Nti emphasized that the projects form part of the government’s broader development agenda to ensure equitable distribution of resources and infrastructure. He urged contractors to deliver quality work within the stipulated timelines.

REMARKS FROM THE REGIONAL MINISTER

The Eastern Regional Minister, Hon. Rita A. Awatey, commended the Assembly for its proactive efforts and reaffirmed the Regional Coordinating Council’s support. She encouraged communities to cooperate with contractors to ensure successful completion.

COMMUNITY RESPONSE

Community leaders and residents expressed gratitude to the Assembly for the timely intervention in key areas such as education, health, sanitation, and water. They assured authorities of their readiness to ensure peaceful and conducive environments for project implementation.

CONCLUSION

The sod-cutting and handing-over ceremony marks a significant step toward infrastructural development in Kwaebibirem Municipality. The successful execution of these projects is expected to contribute immensely to improving social services and enhancing the overall well-being of residents.
